| Dear Subscriber
Welcome to our news update. We have been very busy at DDL
lately. We have just returned from demonstrating our bespoke learning
materials at the World
of Learning Conference and Exhibition in Birmingham, a premier event
which provides learning and development professionals with the latest in
learning solutions and services. We spoke with many visitors who showed
real interest in our existing products and expressed a desire to work with
us in the future.
We are really pleased to have recently won a
National Training Award for our work on Lucite International’s Technical
Training Tool. There are more details about the product and our award
below.
We have also revamped our website. If you have a moment,
please do take a look. You will see our home page boasts ‘Digital
Excellence’ and we are confident about making such a grand claim. As
experienced educationalists, we like to think that we know a thing or two
about learning online. www.ddluk.com
The
site contains news and information as well as case studies about some of
our bespoke products. These case studies demonstrate how we have fulfilled
and exceeded the requirements of our clients. We hope they will inspire you
to think about how DDL might find a solution to your learning needs and
also show you that we can offer impartial, informed advice and technical
know-how to enhance your online training and
education.

DDL was delighted to win the region’s top accolade for
our work with Lucite International. The North East Training Award for
Partnership and Collaboration was presented to DDL and Lucite by top-class
hurdler Colin Jackson at the National Training Awards 2008 ceremony at the
Hilton in Gateshead.
The National Training Awards celebrate
businesses and organisations that achieve outstanding success through
training and development. Award winners are exemplars of training and
development in the UK, committed to exceptional training that has real
benefits for business, communities and individuals.
Lucite is a
global leader in the design, development and manufacture of acrylic based
products. They required a simple, interactive system to aid the training of
their staff at the Cassell Works Plant in Teesside. The system was required
for the induction of new staff, the continual assessment of existing staff
and for plant specific troubleshooting. The solution needed to be
expandable and provide editing facilities for onsite
administrators.
Following an in-depth consultation, we created a
bespoke product that engaged workers using interactive diagrams,
animations, videos and images supported by textual explanations and self
assessment tests.
The product has helped to increase production by
14%, decrease High Potential Incidents by 82%, give an objective way to
demonstrate competence and introduce consistent high quality work practices
across the site. Lucite were so delighted with our solution that they
decided to enter the product into the National Training
Awards.
