The briefNeal's Yard Remedies are a well known chain of high street stores and therapy rooms that specialise in natural and organic skin and body care products and treatments.
NYR had a need for a Health and Safety Management System to help manage the planned health and safety inspections and deal with the unplanned issues and incidents in their stores and therapy rooms. They also needed a system that allocated health and safety training to staff and recorded the results of that training.
The solutionDDL visited a number of NYR locations to establish the scope of the system and speak with staff. We became aware that it was vital that the system was not time-consuming to use and that it made the health and safety monitoring in each store unobtrusive.
The system was developed to work on an issues and actions based approach, where a member of staff can create an issue which is then dealt with by the relevant member of staff or passed up the hierarchy of the company until it was solved.
The system also includes the option to assign recurring pre-defined actions such as shop checks, planned maintenance, risk assessments and accident tracking.
Alongside this system, we also developed a series of interactive basic health and safety training modules with an integrated testing system, to measure employees health and safety competence.
