The briefThe North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) represents 500 pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical companies in the North East employing around 40,000 people. A key objective of NEPIC is to raise the standards of the region’s workforce through training and development - making the North East an attractive location for large multi-national organisations.
It was identified that there was a general regional shortage of basic maths skills. NEPIC approached DDL to create a simple maths package to be made available to operatives within the chemical industry.
The solutionDDL designed a CD-ROM that focused specifically on maths for industry, covering elements such as approximation, area, volume, statistics and displaying data.
Each module is followed by a set of questions to test the employee’s knowledge and progress. The user answers a question and can see immediately if they are right, viewing the correct answer if they weren’t.
The product provided NEPIC with a simple learning resource. The CD can be distributed to its centres and be used by employees at a time and pace to suit them.
