The briefLucite is a global leader in the design, development and manufacture of acrylic based products. They required a simple, interactive system to aid the training of their staff at the Cassell Works Plant in Teesside.
The system would be used for the induction of new staff, for the continual assessment of existing staff and for trouble-shooting. Due to constant changes and development, the system had to be expandable and had to provide the functionality for onsite administrators to update and amend information easily.
The solutionFollowing an in-depth consultation with Lucite, DDL created an award winning bespoke training and assessment product that engaged workers by using a range of media.
Interactive diagrams, animations, videos and photography of each section of the plants are supported by textual explanations and self-assessment tests. The user can select an area of the plant then navigate through sections such as general description, trips and alarms, controls and cause and effects.
Animated flow charts effectively illustrate the processes and users can click on individual parts or sections to find out more in-depth information.
As requested, the system was designed to be editable so that authorised administrators could add or amend copy - ensuring the information available to operatives is always up-to-date.
The system is enhanced with a bespoke self-assessment element whereby administrators can add questions. To maintain standards employees are required to maintain a 90% pass rate on the assessments. Trainers can view individual and group results to quickly identify individuals who require greater support or to discover areas where training is lacking as a whole.
DDL's bespoke solution not only worked as an initial response to training needs, it was designed with longevity in mind by providing a simple and expandable content management system alongside a rigorous and intuitive assessment tool.
